Jim has held this philosophy and “People first attitude” throughout his noteworthy, professional career.

Born and raised with firm roots in southwestern Nova Scotia, has shaped Jim’s beliefs with a deep Atlantic perspective. He founded Atlantic Canada Taxman in 1974 after a successful management career in banking.

Jim’s formal university background in banking, business as well as the humanities merged with a constant passion for world travel and experience. The result is the vision to guide Atlantic Canada Taxman to become a respected player in the accounting industry. His leadership has created a major, independent accounting firm with an ever expanding client base.

Jim continues to leave his indelible mark. In 2004 he was awarded, by his peers, a coveted “Honorary Fellow " designation for his lifetime achievements, which have included, among others, the Presidency of both the Federal and Atlantic RPA Associations.

  His reputation and extensive experience creates a unique synergy with his client base which now extends across Canada and the USA. Jim Cottreau will always remain committed to the outstanding achievement potential of each and every one, of his valued clients.

Victor Goguen
FRPA

Victor Goguen, a senior partner in Atlantic Canada Taxman, was born and raised in Southeastern New Brunswick. His background of rural and urban life has given him personal depth and an acute perspective of the business sector. He applies sincerity, honesty and thoughtfulness into a profession which, at times, seems cold and indifferent to many. His career has earned him respect and recognition for his down-to-earth approach, reflecting a total commitment to his clientele.

Victor holds designations in the accounting, management and taxation fields and has been honored with national and regional awards, a testimony to his professional standing.

In 2005, as a result of his many lifetime achievements, and being the co-founder of the Atlantic arm of the RPA Association, he was acknowledged by his peers with a coveted “Honorary Fellow” designation.

His comprehensive background in the ever evolving, modern advancements utilized in the small business sector has allowed Victor to spearhead the firm’s growth in technology and the advanced taxation/information arenas.

Victor remains an integral link in the ever growing success scenario which is proud to call itself Atlantic Canada Taxman.
